GO ADVENTURING IN CENTRAL ASIA

A region of towering mountains and vast plains, criss-crossed by old trade routes and bloodsoaked by countless battles, Central Asia has a turbulent history. From Alexander the Great to the Soviet Union, empires have swept through these lands, each one leaving their mark. Today however, each and every Central Asian country stands on its own feet, finding its way in the modern world for better or worse.

The mix of geography, history and culture combine to make Central Asia a destination of ever growing fascination for travellers. The mountains of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan offer some of the best, most untouched trekking opportunities in the world, and the remote Pamir Highway between the two countries is a huge draw. Uzbekistan attracts people with the old cities of the Silk Road, while Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan also have their appeal. Others are also tempted by the continuing allure of Afghanistan.

One thing’s for sure, whether it’s culture, history or adventure you’re after, Central Asia has them all.
